Canacre’s Social Sciences Team focuses on understanding the people and communities in the geographies our projects occur in. Understanding community priorities, issues and concerns is a crucial element of project design.​

Actively working with communities to understand their needs and how project activities may affect them builds trust and fosters social acceptance, which can contribute to better project outcomes. With a focus on building sustainable projects, Canacre ensures project design includes Indigenous and western science ways of knowing.​

We collaborate with Indigenous communities and local stakeholders to build an understanding of the existing social and economic conditions in the geographies in which infrastructure projects are planned, developed, and constructed. ​

Our team is experienced in conducting baseline studies and preparing socio-economic effects assessments to meet regulatory requirements. Our team includes Indigenous and western ways of knowing in baseline studies and assessments, developing mitigation plans or strategies for socio-economic impacts, facilitating rights assessments, and working with Indigenous communities to include Indigenous knowledge land use studies. Canacre offers creative solutions to managing and monitoring socio-economic impacts of projects, based on the nature of—and input from—impacted communities.​
